Student Residence
A vital piece of the 314 Community’s vision is to provide a safe housing environment for students attending university – a place where they receive mentorship and discipleship, educational resources, career growth opportunities, intentional fellowship, and job placement services. In partnership with Uganda Christian University (UCU), The Sanctuary will be a fellowship housing complex for 192 full-time students, primarily graduates from The Amazima School and sponsored graduates of secondary education programs from key partners. The campus will provide dormitory housing units, spaces for extracurricular training and education, a sports complex, and ample gathering space for small and large group gatherings.
To develop a repeatable, and scalable model for the housing, mentoring, and enrichment of post-secondary school graduates that consistently produces the most qualified and desirable candidates in all of Uganda.
The Story House
For a new generation of transformed and equipped vocational / university graduates to break the cycle of poverty in Uganda and in doing so, establish a model for the rest of the developing world.
Focus Areas
Nurturing Environments
The housing / living options for students at University and Vocational School are rarely environments that support healthy living and productive academic work. The Sanctuary campus will provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where student residents be free to grow in faith, character, integrity, and of course, with their academics. They will have their own individual space in their rooms but enjoy the benefit of many group gathering spots throughout the campus. Graduates of TAS who are at vocational schools will also have access to the campus and its programs including but not limited being able to stay overnight on the weekends.
Enhanced Education
Although Ugandan Christian University (UCU) represents the best post-secondary education in Uganda, it’s still limited in scope and effectiveness. For the student residents of The Sanctuary, there will be complimentary and supplementary education through on-site electives and on-line classes from American university partners. In addition, vocational students will have access to additional vocational training and more specifically, immersive virtual reality classes that will make up for the lack of practical training tools at Ugandan vocational schools.
Increased Opportunity / Visibility
314 Community will leverage its considerable access and influence to the job market in Uganda to proactively create visibility for our students…. who will be the most qualified and impressive candidates in all of East Africa. We are certain that “if we get them in the room, they will win the room every time.” While on campus at The Sanctuary, students will also learn the art of storytelling through video. We will collaborate to create video assets in support of our efforts to create maximum visibility and opportunity. Most importantly, graduates will also have access to capital for approved new ventures.
Intentional Fellowship / Community
Leveraging what was successfully created and implemented at The Amazima School, there will be organized fellowships and direct community engagement as part of the day-to-day rhythm of life on the campus of The Sanctuary. Since the student residents are adults, these programs will be student led.
